At least seven supporters of the ousted governor of Herat in western Afghanistan were killed Sunday and 20 wounded in clashes with U.S. troops and police after mobs burned U.N. offices and, in Iraq, strong explosions shook central Baghdad at dawn Sunday and heavy fighting erupted in a street notorious as a rebel stronghold killing at least 22 Iraqis.
