According to Reuters, "Iraqi insurgents appear to be holding back on their violence in order to make a 'more spectacular' attack just before or on next Sunday's national elections.
Air Force Brig. Gen. Erv Lessel, deputy director of operations in Iraq said in an interview from Baghdad with CNN said that there had been a 50 percent drop in attacks by insurgents in recent days.
'We think it's a calm before the storm, that they're unable to sustain the level of attacks that they've had, but they're saving up for something more spectacular in the days proceeding elections and on election day,' Lessel said."
I think it is safe to say vast parts of Iraq will not be getting to the voting booths. I honestly hope to be wrong about that, but honestly, I honestly won't be surprised if something really bad happens on or around election day...

Every single Iraq voter that dies trying to vote will be a condemnation of our policies in Iraq.
