This Inauguration Day

As Bush's people spit on FDR's corpse by using him in an ad designed to garner support for their SS reform proposal, they begin today by perfectly illustrating the difference between the two presidents.

Today is the second inauguration of President Bush - "a $40 million extravaganza, funded by donations of as much as $250,000 from corporations, trade associations and executives with an interest in pending legislation and regulations. It will be spread over three days this week, with nine balls and a host of other parties, concerts, lunches and fireworks," as described by USA Today.

Bush prides himself as a "wartime president," but during the Second World War, Franklin Roosevelt decided a fourth lavish inauguration would be inappropriate in a time of war. And thus we learn the difference between a great president and someone who is just president. Though the fact that the former is one by choice and the latter by necessity already tells you that.

So as Bush and his affluent backers party today, I pray God let them remember the stream of bodies coming home from Iraq that didn't have to be. And let me assure them, this is not over...
