Winning the religious middle

The Chicago Tribune has an interesting article about moderate evangelicals - those who are deeply religious and hold conservative views on social issues, but are economically liberal. I'll mainly just let you read the article, but I think it makes a good point that while we can't win the religious right ever without betraying our principles, we can win the religious middle that, to be honest, just didn't vote for us last time. We can do this by showing a real commitment to defeating poverty and promoting peace and social justice. Sounds good to me, no matter what your religious beliefs.
