Abramoff to plead guilty in SunCruz case

Jack Abramoff is going to plead guilty to two of the six charges against him in the Suncruz case. The article doesn't say what the charges are or what the possible sentence might be. This article links to a nice graphic that shows the many links in the Abramoff chain here. I like it because it shows exactly how important Abramoff was and how many people he's linked to. Now it would be fallacious to assume that everyone who was tied to him was participating in illegal activities, but it's more than likely that some others who he was connected to were breaking the law. I'm sure federal prosecutors will be looking into everyone he's been tied to financially.

Setting that aside for the moment, I also think the
murder case against the killers of Abramoff's and Scanlon's business partner Konstantinos "Gus" Boulis is very interesting. I really don't like conspiracy theories, but it's just such a coincidence that two of the three men arrested and charged with the murder worked for Scanlon and Abramoff. Although by "worked for" I mean they received payment of a large amount of cash for services rendered which investigators have no evidence of them doing.

Homicide detectives have been investigating payments made to Moscatiello, his daughter and Ferrari in the months before the killing. SunCruz paid $145,000 to Moscatiello and his daughter for catering, consulting and "site inspections," Kidan said in a 2001 civil court deposition. There is no evidence that food or drink was provided or that any consulting documents were prepared, according to court documents. The checks to Jennifer Moscatiello were made at Anthony Moscatiello's instruction, although his daughter provided no services for the money, Kidan said in his deposition.

Isn't that just a bit strange? You can draw your own conclusions because I'm assuming nothing. But given Abramoff's rampant lack of ethics, who knows?

I'm not a conspiracy theorist either, but what exactly were they getting paid for? I won't assume they were getting paid to knock anybody off, but the connection is a little suspicious.
