Though for months now polls have shown Democrats are favored on the issues and most say they would like to see them collectively win in the upcoming elections, what has been missing is an "anti-incumbent" mood that is really necessary for people to vote out their (mostly) Republican Congressman. However, a new poll suggests this may be changing.
Fifty-three percent of those surveyed called themselves "anti-incumbent" - nearly the same as the 54 percent who identified themselves as such in the summer of 1994 when Congress was still under the Democrats' control. And 52 percent said they would support the Democrat in their congressional district if the election were held today. My only problem with the poll is it surveyed registered voters and not "likely" voters, but the results are still encouraging and show the country could be moving towards the kind of "throw the bums out" mood Democrats really need to take control.
Also, speaking of throwing the bums out, the primary in the Lieberman-Lamont race is being held today (and also the one in George which will decide if Cynthia McKinney gets another term in office).
