Capitol Annex on Tuition Hikes at A&M

It’s time for the state to re-regulate public college and university tuition, because this is getting our of control and putting a college education out of reach for middle class and low-income Texans.
I think most people agree with you, but when it comes to raising taxes or even just opposing tax cuts, reason flies out the window. Hopefully we can continue to bring a saner, more reasonable legislature into being by continuing to Democratize Texas. Until then, we may just have to suffer under unreasonably burdensome education expenses.

Seriously, people get what they elect. If Texans hadn't elected all these Republicans into power a few years ago, we wouldn't have skyrocketing tuition or cuts in the CHIP program.

It's only a matter of time, even round these parts. It's just getting to where even middle-class people can't afford a college education without some sort of private aid, which will foreclose the opportunity for many of them, and it's unacceptable. The backbone of progress in this country is education, and it's just not going to fly that we have people who deliberately avoid college just because they can't afford it.
