No, the Surge is not "Working"

Amongst those few on the right level-headed enough to accept that political progress is dead in the water in Iraq, there's still the claim that the surge is a military success. As Kevin Drum illustrates with his "metrics", this claim is abjectly false. Of course, such an argument is convenient for those who post-withdrawal would love nothing more than to blame Democrats for "losing" Iraq, but given that the conduct of the war has been determined almost entirely by the GOP and right-wing pundits, I think history will have no trouble sorting out whose fault this war was.
