A conservative convert to "socialized medicine" describes his conversion process (via Ezra Klein.) A lot of smart people spend a lot of time arguing about numbers, and feasibility, and efficiency. But I think the average American wants to know if a new health care system is going to relieve them of the dread of staggering medical bills or no health care at all, and this the kind of story that will gain more traction with them then graphs or charts ever will.
