Gary Gygax, the creator of ultimate role-playing game D&D, has passed away. He was 69. If someone had told him as a young man that he would invent a game involved swords and sorcerers that would have such a dramatic impact on popular culture, I think he would have been surprised.
UPDATE: No doubt Gygax was beloved among nerds who gamed and spend too much time online. D&D is apparently something that liberals, libertarians, reformed Republicans and screeching right-wingers can get behind.

It's the passing of a legend. There is no better way to honor him than to roll dice!
