Black Hawk Down and War Crimes

I guess there's a comparison to be made between civilians killed by Israeli soldiers in Gaza, and civilians killed by American soldiers in Mogadishu, if you completely ignore the limited purpose of the raid, the fact that errors and bad luck left American soldiers surrounded by a hostile enemy, the fact that superior American firepower was primarily what kept those soldiers alive, and the fact that once we got the hell out we didn't shell Mogadishu to get Aidid. Regardless, the war of analogies among American bloggers will continue, though it's depressing to me that we need to illustrate the plight of the Palestinians with analogies, as if the mere facts of their situation were not sufficient.
