The Senate
confirmed Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court by a vote of 68-31, including 9 Republicans. The Senate also unanimously
confirmed the new ambassadors to China and Japan and the
first U.S. attorneys appointed by President Obama. And the Senate
joined the House in passing a $2 billion extension of the "cash for clunkers" program that was quickly signed into law by President Obama. Both chambers are now in recess until after Labor Day when, hopefully, they'll do something about health care.
