Kerry won the last debate. He laid out his plans , was personable, and talked about the values that drive him. He didn't dominate or go for the kill, but he still won. Why?
George Bush beat himself. He forced a smile all through the debate. He didn't look like he was angry - instead, he looked like he was on drugs. His use of the words "Massachusetts liberal" was desperate. He again, didn't answer the questions and changed the subject. But the worst mistake he made was that he no doubt hurt himself with his base by refusing to say he'd appoint a justice to the USSC that would overturn Roe vs. Wade. And he said he supported the assault weapons ban and other gun control measures, hurting himself with hunters while, at the same time, allowing Kerry to completely rip him apart on that issue.
He's also gonna get killed, even in this media, for saying he never said Osama wasn't a priority for him.
As for the debate itself, it would have been nice to have a question about stem cell reserach in light of Chris Reeve's death instead of one about how their women have influenced them...
What happens now? Don't know. The CNN/Gallup poll says people think 52% believe Kerry won and 39% believe Bush won. We'll see what the national and state polls say over the next few days and weeks about who is in the lead. I believe Kerry will win this election. I believe he will continue with his surge in the polls. Will it be enough to break out of the "margin of error" caused by election mishaps though? That's the question.
