News Round-Up

A terrorism case shows the flaws in U.S. strategy. A base hit by daily attacks told no GIs available for patrols. As insurgents enter the Green Zone, GIs refuse "suicide mission." The CIA is holding terrorists suspect in a secret location in Jordan to escape bans on certain interrogation methods. World Opinion of US worsens and most say they want Kerry to replace Bush. A report finds that 39 million Americans, including 20 million children, are in working poor families. The Republican ethic committee chairman has been threatened over Delay rebukes. Democratic voter registrations trashed in Nevada. Paul Krugman exposes Bush's lies in the debates. And Congress bails on a chance to fix the nation's intelligence problems. Finally, in what could be the "October Surprise," the Supreme Court has decided to take up the Ten Commandments case.

Seriously, isn't the timing a little suspicious? Could this be used to rile Bush's evangelical base all the way to the polls?

UPDATED: U.S. to lose more than 400,000 jobs this year do to outsourcing. More Bush military records found after officers sign oath saying all disclosed. Bush nixed plan for Muslim peacekeepers to help U.N. organize for elections. And a poll shows military has Iraq doubts.
