How Republicans Reward Their Base

They don't.

In fact, they say "Thanks for your vote, suckers!"

U.S. ranchers and farmers in competition with imports fought for country-of-origin labeling that tells consumers where people buy their meat, fruit and vegetables from to be part of the 2002 farm bill. It was supposed to have gone into effect this fall. Congress last year postponed it until 2006. Now, House Republicans are trying to wipe it off the books as part of a spending bill they plan to finish this month again putting the interest of industry above the working man.

I don't want to be condescending, but this is what you people in farm states and other red states get when you vote for Republicans. They turn right around to screw you. It might be honorable to vote against your economic interests for higher moral values if the Republicans cared about that, but they don't. Even with the presidency, majorities and Congress, and a Supreme Court appointment or two, the tide on abortion rights, gay rights, and other concerns among social conservatives won't be turned. Arlen Specter will be the new judiciary chair. The FMA will fail again. And so on. As long as you continue to be mislead by Republicans they will continue to screw you. And if are wondering what makes us Democrats and liberals so mad, well, it's that we have to live with your mistake as well.

Great Blog! I'm considering wearing a black armband on the swearing in ceremony of another DISMAL 4 years ahead, but will sure be popping that cork in 2008, when America finally wakes up from its slumber. I just hope it won't be too late.
