Milestones

As the old year turns into the new, we here at TWM wish everyone a happy and prosperous new year.

However, it is impossible to discuss the new year without discussing another milestone, the number of American military dead in Iraq, which reached 3,000 yesterday. 111 died in the month of December alone, the most casualties experienced by our soldiers yet in a single month in this war. And while our leaders bandy about ideas for escalating the war in Iraq with as many troops as they can get their hands on, the American people must know that sending more of our troops into the boiling cauldron that is Baghdad will only produce more months like December, and not the "ultimate victory" that the hawks, Bush apologists and leftover neo-cons are hoping for.
