Burma Update

Despite violent government crackdowns, demonstrators are still taking to the streets in an effort to subvert the ruling military junta as a United Nations special envoy arrived in Burma to engage in talks with government representatives over the demonstrations. Bush administration officials, recognizing limitations on efforts to pressure the military government, are reportedly pressing China to help manage a transition to a new government. So far there is no indication that military leadership intends to relent, as they have only moved to suppress dissent and cut off Burmese demonstrators and activists from the outside world.

FIND THE FUNDERS OF THE JUNTA.....
There is a way to pressure the junta...but NO ONE...no media outlet has expressed it but one..list the names of the companies doing business with the junta, identify the "individuals", and shine intense world media light on them...harass them paparrazzi style and ask them if they would consider not funding xyz business in Burma because of what's going on...I guarantee when the money that the generals are counting on runs dry from companies from Singapore, Japan, China, India, and other friendly countries and companies, they will alter their behavior significantly...stop the hyprocrisy that UN, US sanctions “alone”..will work...or government official "denunciations" will work...until the "money men" and the money regimes are called into account...the junta goes its merry way killing with impunity...GLOBAL CIVIL SOCIETY..meaning public and private individuals must act...

Thanks for your comment. Public pressure on those businesses that support the regime economically is a good way to go, but I honestly don't know if it'll come in time.

Free Burma!
International Bloggers' Day for Burma on the 4th of October

International bloggers are preparing an action to support the peaceful revolution in Burma. We want to set a sign for freedom and show our sympathy for these people who are fighting their cruel regime without weapons. These Bloggers are planning to refrain from posting to their blogs on October 4 and just put up one Banner then, underlined with the words „Free Burma!“.
