Shift To Afghanistan

I don't believe for an instant that the surge has fixed any fundamental problems in Iraq, but if some knuckleheads want to believe such so that Afghanistan will finally get the attention it needs, then so be it. We here have been saying that Afghanistan has been badly in need of more funding and more troops for years now (we don't call ourselves the Three Wise Men for nothing.) Maybe when we get serious again about rooting out the Taliban and Al Qaeda in that country, we'll stop being taunted by people we should have captured six years ago. And maybe letting the war hawks have their little "victory" in Iraq will do more to get us out of the country than the endless failures there ever will.
