While another cabinet pick withdrew this week, two Obama appointees were also confirmed. William Lynn was confirmed by the Senate as the deputy secretary of Defense and Leon Panetta was confirmed as the next CIA director.
The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee also voted in favor of Hilda Solis, nominated to be Secretary of Labor. Basically, she had been held up by Republicans over her support of the Employee Free Choice Act, which will make it easier to join a union (God forbid!).
